" Special Message from the Health Office"
In order to help all of our students stay as healthy as can be the Health Office has put together a list that can help our students cut down on the chances of getting sick. Parents please do the following to avoid getting sick this cold and flu season:
-
Encourage your children to wash their hands often and/or use hand sanitizer.
-
Remind your children to wash their hands after using the bathroom and use hand sanitizer in the cafeteria before meals.
-
Encourage your children to cough and sneeze into their sleeve or a Kleenex.
-
Teach them to immediately wash hands or use hand sanitizer if they accidentally cough or sneeze into their hands.
-
Encourage your children to bring their own mini hand sanitizer container to school and to use it often.
-
Wipe off desks, door handles, and other hard surfaces that are touched often with disinfectant.
-
Don't share pencils or pens with friends.
-
Try to avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. I know this is almost impossible for younger children, however most virus and bacteria enter our bodies through our eyes, nose and mouth!
-
Do sports (knuckle) taps instead of high fives.
-
Please keep your children home if they have a bad headache, severe body aches, or are feeling very exhausted even if they don't have a fever. The flu often starts with several days of headaches and feeling very exhausted before the fever starts.
-
Encourage healthy body activities to build immune system: Keep body well hydrated with water, eat a healthy diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, get plenty of rest at night and exercise during the day.
-
Keep in contact with the School Health Office if your child becomes ill. The School Health Office's phone number is 602-664-7120.
